Hello friends!

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
— Mary Oliver
This month in The Nest, we will explore and create a Life List.
What is a Life List, you may ask?
Well, it’s a bit like a bucket list, yet not quite the same. Bucket lists often lean toward grand, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, while Life Lists are gentler, more personal reminders of what makes us feel alive. It might be learning something new, rekindling an old passion, or simply giving ourselves permission to dream.
The inspiration for this month’s theme came from the Netflix film The Life List, about a young woman who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, working through a list of goals she wrote as a teenager, at the request of her late mother. As she navigates the messy process of her second coming-of-age, she confronts her grief while finding the courage to live fully again. If you’d like to enrich your journey, I recommend watching it—it’s a perfect companion to our October reflections.
Over the next four weeks, you’ll receive a series of newsletters—each with a simple practice to help you build your own Life List. By the end of the month, you’ll have a tender map of dreams and joys to carry forward.

One-Line Life List
We began our Life Lists with just one line—a small dream, joy, or curiosity that makes us feel alive. I’d love to know what yours is!
What did you choose for your first line? Was it playful, tender, bold, or a tiny everyday joy?
My first line is…
See the Northern Lights.
(A dream I once stitched into a card for my daughter.)
Leave a comment below and share your one line—together, we’ll inspire one another. Your words might be the nudge someone else needs to give themselves permission to dream. 💫
Keep this page somewhere close; each week we’ll add to it. For now, celebrate this first small step toward rediscovering your dreams.

I'm really looking forward to this series! My first line is a recipe. I found this recipe for Autumn Leaf Cookies and it looks perfect! https://victoriaharrison.substack.com/p/its-autumn-equinox-time
